St. Vincent de Paul Shelter

The Women with Children Transitional Center is in need of alarm clocks, silverware and high chairs. They are in regular need of coffee and donations for the "milk find" as well as coffee pots and urns. Please call the shelter at (860) 589-9098

Regular Parish Activities

  • Food Pantry
Collection and weekly distribution of food from the parish food pantry.

  • Food for the Poor
The parish gave a $2,000 donation to help a children's orphanage in Haiti. This orphanage burned down. It was housing handicapped children, most born without arms or legs. Our parish gave money to purchase the beds and mattresses that were immediately needed.

  • Parish Cooperative Sharing
Our parish provides quarterly financial assistance to help St. Justin Parish in Hartford.

  • Meals for the Needy
This committee cooks twice a month at the Zion Lutheran Church. They also purchase meat and other items needed for their food pantry.

  • St. Vincent de Paul Shelter
Over a dozen people from our parish volunteer to work at the Shelter in various capacities, particularly in the Women with Children Transitional Unit.

  • Homefront Day
St. Joseph Parish participates annually in Homefront Day sponsored by the Office of Urban Affairs for the Archdiocese of Hartford. Homefront Day is dedicated to helping those who cannot help themselves make repairs on their homes. It is a one-day event held on a Saturday in May. Homefront Day in May 2000 marked the first time that the Protestant churches in the Bristol area participated.

If you are interested in participating in Homefront Day, please call the Parish Center at 860-583-1369.

  • Walk Against Hunger
Our parish participates annually in the Archdiocese of Hartford Walk Against Hunger.
